Astronaut Camp

We have been missing Emily these last two days.  She has been away at Astronaut Camp.   She had the best time.

Her friend went with her.  It was both of their first overnight camp without family.  DSC02433

She was on the “Alpha Team”  They won the team trophy.

This is her cot, and she is holding a rocket that she made.  The weather did not cooperate, so they did not get to launch them.  She brought it home and we will launch it someday.

Emily has a small paper route, and she had to save up to pay for 1/2 of each summer camp she is going to.  She said it was SO worth it.  Next year she is going to go to Astronaut Training Camp.  Which is a 4 day camp, and you get to go Scuba Diving.  She is already saving for it.

Our Family's New Hobby

(When I say we, what I really mean is my husband)

Our kids are just getting into BMX Racing. We can thank our neighbor for that. They have set up a mini track in their yard. My kids have been going over their every afternoon to ride bikes for the last few months. We decided to let the kids have a real go at it. We took them to the track on race night, so they could practice at the real track with just their regular bikes. After two weeks of that, Paul decided to get them both bikes. We went to the track for their first race (the other weeks they just practiced).

Tommy qualified for the main event and then HE CAME IN 3rd PLACE!

Emily qualified for the main event and then she came in 5th place!

I am so proud of both of them! They practiced hard, and rode their little hearts out!

Summer Kickoff Party

We decided that even though we are going to school year round, with shorter days in the summer, that we would have a Summer Kickoff Party. We got together as a committee and planned it together. Everybody came to the meeting with their ideas, and we decided as a group what we would do. We chose swimming, go out for smoothies, a campfire for dinner, and watch a movie as a family! I didn’t realize what a great learning opportunity this was at the time. This taught them how to participate in a committee type environment. Nobody got all of their ideas chosen. Some of us didn’t even get any of our ideas chosen. But we all got to have a say.

I totally forgot to take pictures as I was having so much fun at our party.

Next week we will be making a Summer Bucket List, as I have seen on a few blogs.

Family Fun Day

We decided that we needed to get out of the house. The weather is just too nice to be stuck inside. We took the family mini golfing! It was so hot out that afterword we took the kids and us out for Slurpies. This was such a fun time. We really took our time and enjoyed it. If people came up behind us and were waiting for us, we would let them play through. This gave us a great relaxed opportunity to have fun with our family!

Daddy Daughter Date

Paul and Katey being silly, posing for their date.

Paul and Katey went on their first Daddy Daughter Date!
They went out to dinner, and then they were going to go to the pet store, but it ended up being closed. It was OK though they were just going to look around. Katey loved it anyway. She talked about this for days leading up to it. She was so excited to get ready for it. This was a great way for them to spend some quality one on one time for them.

Memorial Weekend!

I know I am about a week late on posting this, but that just goes to show you how busy my week has been!

For Memorial Weekend we went down to my Grandparent’s house.

They have a Scandinavian Festival every year. Since our ancestors originated from Denmark, (we learned that last year). I knew this would be a perfect opportunity for a review.

We ate ebelskivers for breakfast.

Then we went to the parade.

The kids got to ride in a "horse drawn cart."

We saw a Viking.

We spent lots of time with our family.

We played Bingo at the Senior

Citizen Center.

We ate Famous Sanpete BBQ Turkey! Yummy!

We did some yard work for my grandparents. (yes that is Paul up in that tree with shorts, sandals and no safety glasses, or equipment for that matter).

I really enjoyed myself this weekend. I got to see alot of my cousins and my grandparents, and we got to get out of our town.

When life gives you rotten bananas..........

Make banana bread.
That's what I did!

I really would like to get into more of a routine of blogging. I have so much to blog about, so many pictures that I have taken. I just need to find time to sit down and write them out. I would really like to have a post every day, or at least every other day. I think I will sit down on Sunday night and type up a few. Then I will try to post every other day from then on. Hopefully I can stick to that schedule.

Ok, back to my banana bread. MMMMmmmmmm.

I am gonna go eat some now.
